My first character post on Cgsociety.Just wanted to do something a little different cause of the lack of African related art out there.
Sango is a mythical King of Oyo in Nigeria. He was known as a fierce individual who had the ability to summon lightning. Since the Thor movie would soon be out, I decided to work on this piece due to their similar abilities.His symbol is called the 'oshe' symbolized by a double headed axe, which he uses as a medium to invoke lightingstorms.
Work done in 3dsmax , Zbrush and Photoshop and bodypaint, with Mental Ray as the renderer.Completed it within a span of a week.Chose a rendering style that wasnt too photorealitic cause it kinda worked for this piece.
